The extension at Whiddon Kelso significantly increases aged care capacity for the Bathurst region, easing long waitlists and providing older people with a safer, modern and more connected place to live. The project enhances Whiddon’s ability to deliver high‑quality care within a familiar community setting.

Whiddon engaged our team after the previous builder went into liquidation, requiring a rapid and carefully managed project recovery. Taking over at a late stage demanded detailed re‑planning, transparent communication and a steady, safety‑focused approach to access and continuity of operations. Our established relationship with Whiddon and Jackson Teece helped stabilise the program and restore predictable progress with minimal risk.

Kelso Entrance

The design prioritises dignity, comfort and wellbeing. Key features include private rooms with ensuites, dementia‑supportive layouts, enclosed courtyards, landscaped gardens and a new reception and café that create a warm, welcoming arrival experience. Material selections complement the character of the original building while delivering a brighter, more contemporary environment.

With the addition of 60 new rooms, the home now accommodates 111 residents and enables Whiddon to offer higher levels of care and greater choice for older people in the region.

This project strengthens Whiddon’s long‑term service to the community and reinforces a trusted partnership with Grindley that continued across multiple projects.
