The Western Sydney University Early Learning Centre (ELC) at the Bankstown Campus was delivered to provide a high-quality, inclusive, and nurturing environment that supports early education while strengthening the University’s connection with families, staff and the broader community. This project builds on our established relationship with Western Sydney University, having previously delivered projects on the Kingswood and Hawkesbury Campuses.
Western Sydney University wanted to ensure the ELC was built at a convenient location on campus, meaning construction was undertaken within an active university campus, requiring detailed planning and coordination to maintain safety and minimise disruption to daily learning. Our team implemented robust site management, traffic control and stakeholder engagement processes to ensure a safe, secure and well-managed work environment. The project also included extensions to the campus mains power and fire hydrant infrastructure, delivered in line with strict operational and compliance requirements.
The building is founded on a concrete waffle pod slab-on-ground, with lightweight prefabricated metal framing and roof truss systems supporting efficient construction. Externally, the centre features painted vitra-panel cladding combined with Fundermax poly-composite cladding, selected for its durability and timber-like appearance. Internally, the facility is divided into 4 age-specific learning zones and includes a full commercial kitchen, children’s amenities, administration offices, staff facilities and consultation rooms. High-end features include fibre optic network integration, biometric access control, LED starlight ceilings in cot rooms and centrally managed security and building systems.
A purpose-built outdoor play area with shade sails, gardens, rainwater tanks and soft-fall surfaces completes the project and reflects Western Sydney University’s commitment to excellence in education, safety, and long-term community outcomes.
