New 101 bed student accommodation facility inclusive of Hydronic Heating Systems and State-of-the-Art Fibre Optic Data and Communications Infrastructure, at the Western Sydney University Kingswood Campus. The project’s three structures were completed using conventional slabs on ground supported by a network of screw piles and ground-beams, and suspended slabs, combining with AFS Logic Wall for the external facades and internal shear walls. In addition to the 101 bedrooms and self-contained studios, the project also boasts an expansive suite of management offices and facilities, communal kitchens, lounges and a commercial grade laundry. Externally, there are expansive open external areas landscaped to complement the buildings, as well as meandering pathways that all interconnect at the central breezeway via two grand stairways. The stand-out features of the project are, however, the striking external sunshades. In hues of yellows and oranges, the perforated screens surround the upper levels giving the buildings their unique ‘look’ and also form part of the buildings passive solar design.

"Western Sydney University wishes to acknowledge the professional approach and commitment demonstrated by Grindley Construction as a team during construction of our residential projects on Penrith and Hawkesbury Campuses and the new Early Learning Centre on Bankstown Campus. The approach taken and leadership shown supported the need to work together as a team in order to deliver positive outcomes for the University. The end result is delivery of multiple projects that have met the design intent and high standards demanded by the University's team and our clients."
