The redevelopment of Wentworthville Public School has transformed the campus into a modern learning environment designed to support the needs of its growing and diverse student community. Located in Greater Western Sydney, the project successfully balanced the preservation of the school’s heritage with the creation of contemporary, flexible facilities designed to enhance student learning and wellbeing.
Delivered within a live and fully operational school environment, the works required meticulous planning to ensure safety and minimise disruption. Separate construction access points, restricted delivery schedules, and active traffic management maintained safe circulation for students and staff throughout the build. Remediation and construction activities were carefully sequenced in consultation with the school leadership team to preserve campus functionality and ensure uninterrupted learning.
The redevelopment involved significant ground works and remediation, the expansion and upgrade of five buildings across the campus. Four existing buildings were refurbished, while a new building was constructed to accommodate a special education unit, increasing student capacity from 604 to 1,000. New facilities include 31 permanent learning spaces, a library, hall, administration and staff areas, and program rooms designed to meet the evolving needs of students and teachers.
The design introduces colour, transparency, and light as key features of the school’s identity. Colourful aluminium battens and glazed façades create a vibrant and welcoming presence, while internal sliding doors between classrooms allow spaces to adapt seamlessly between collaborative and individual learning modes.
The completed redevelopment delivers more than new buildings, it provides an inclusive, technology-rich campus that celebrates diversity and fosters a strong sense of belonging. With expanded play areas and flexible, future-focused learning spaces, Wentworthville Public School is well equipped to support student growth and educational excellence for years to come.
