The Peninsula Village Wellness Centre and tea room was undertaken to enhance wellness, independence and quality of life for residents within the existing aged care community. Designed to support rehabilitation, social connection and everyday living, the project created welcoming spaces where residents can relax, participate in activities and come together in a comfortable and accessible environment.
A key challenge involved delivering significant structural upgrades within a live aged care setting occupied by residents, staff and visitors. Careful staging, planning and coordination ensured essential services remained operational while construction activities were safely managed, minimising disruption throughout the construction process.
The refurbishment transformed existing buildings through extensions and structural modifications, creating an open-plan, light-filled environment that promotes connection and wellbeing. New community-focused spaces include a cinema area, library, upgraded tea room and flexible gathering spaces where residents can relax, play games or spend time with friends and family. Landscaping enhancements, a feature pond, outdoor pergola, new entry experience and an upper-level deck with accessible ramps further strengthen the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The full project scope included detailed excavation, piling, masonry, concrete and structural steel works, significant alterations to existing buildings and high-quality internal finishes throughout. The completed Wellness Centre and tea room provides a modern wellness hub that supports physiotherapy, health services and community events, ensuring residents have access to flexible, inclusive spaces that enhance wellbeing and encourage social interaction.
