Waratah Chambers is a leading Sydney legal practice specialising in Family Law. Grindley delivered a complete refurbishment and fitout of the Chambers’ Elizabeth Street premises, transforming the entire fifth floor into a unified, contemporary workplace. The project focused on creating a calm, professional environment with improved privacy, acoustic performance and a welcoming Client experience.
A key challenge was staging the works to maintain a fully functioning legal practice. The team sequenced demolition, services upgrades and fitout activities to preserve daily operations for the Barristers, minimising disruption to hearings, Client meetings and confidential case preparation. Clear communication, strict access protocols and coordinated after‑hours works ensured the refurbishment was delivered safely within an occupied office environment.
The refurbishment introduces a warm, refined material palette anchored by timber batten ceiling features with concealed services throughout. The upgraded boardroom and reception areas feature integrated linear LED lighting recessed within the battens, creating sophisticated, evenly lit spaces. The new reception area pairs natural stone, timber wall panelling and curated artwork to form a welcoming arrival point.
The full project scope included extending the office floor to incorporate the entire fifth level, creating a single tenancy. Works comprised he full refurbishment of existing and newly acquired office suites, an upgraded boardroom, new kitchenette, meeting rooms and communal spaces, supported by comprehensive electrical, mechanical, fire and audio-visual upgrades integrated seamlessly within the new ceiling and joinery elements. Delivered with minimal disruption to daily operations, the refurbishment provides Waratah Chambers with a modern workplace that supports both staff and Clients.
