The new Multi-purpose Hall and Sports Centre at Trinity Lutheran College has enhanced the College’s ability to support student wellbeing, physical development and community connection. Delivered as part of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER) program, the facility provides a central hub for sport, recreation, assemblies and school events, creating a flexible environment that can support both everyday learning and broader College activities.
The project involved the construction of a new indoor sports hall and associated facilities within the College’s Ashmore campus. Designed to support a range of indoor sports including basketball, netball and volleyball, the development forms part of the College’s broader sporting precinct, which includes outdoor playing fields, tennis courts, cricket facilities and aquatic infrastructure. Constructing a major new facility within an operational school environment required careful planning and coordination. Works were staged to maintain safe access across the campus and minimise disruption to students, staff and school activities. Close collaboration with the College ensured daily operations continued uninterrupted throughout the delivery of the project.
A defining feature of the development is the expansive clear-span hall, which provides a highly adaptable space capable of supporting sport, training, gatherings and community events. High-level clerestory glazing, louvred facades and a striking curved roof introduce natural light and ventilation, while retractable spectator seating and contemporary amenities enhance flexibility and functionality. Covered walkways, landscaped surrounds and durable building materials help connect the facility with the wider campus and support long-term performance in the Queensland climate.
The completed Multi-purpose Hall and Sports Centre provides Trinity Lutheran College with a contemporary facility that promotes active learning, participation and wellbeing. As a valuable asset for students, staff and the wider community, it supports the College’s commitment to fostering connected, healthy and engaged learners for years to come.
