Situated in the regional town of Narrandera, the staged extension of Teloca House was undertaken to enhance comfort, care and community connection for older people living in this close‑knit rural setting. The upgrade expands the home’s capacity to 61 residents and strengthens its role as a secure, peaceful and socially engaging environment within a town known for its strong community spirit, colonial heritage and natural surrounds.

Delivering the works within an operational aged care home required careful staging, strict safety management and close coordination with staff. Each phase was sequenced to maintain essential services, minimise disruption and protect residents while construction progressed across multiple wings and communal areas.

The project focused on improving amenity, functionality and resident experience. New bedrooms with private ensuites, upgraded dining and lounge spaces, and purpose‑built support areas, including a commercial kitchen, laundry, servery and dirty utility room were designed to enhance comfort, accessibility and operational efficiency across the facility.

The extension was delivered across 3 stages: a 15‑bed addition with major electrical and fire services upgrades, then installation of a new commercial kitchen and laundry with refurbishments to House 1 and finally the completion of new support spaces within House 2.

The completed works strengthen Teloca House as a welcoming, community‑oriented home, supporting long‑term wellbeing and enriching the lives of residents in regional New South Wales.

Teloca House came with many complexities comprising a regional location, an operational facility and prominent location within town. The approach taken by the entire Grindley team was very collaborative and struck the right balance between management of key stakeholders particularly those operating the facility, achieving the Client brief and commercial outcome for the Client. The commitment of the project manager relocating for the project well before site establishment commenced, taking the time to understand the existing asset, facility stakeholders, residents, and the way the facility operated. This was also in response to the challenges faced from the parochial nature of a regional location, ensuring the time and effort was invested with the local trades, building engagement around the project, enabling competitive pricing and ongoing commitment to producing a quality outcome for the Client and wider local community.
