Learning is at the heart of St Scholastica’s College. The completion of Stage 2 and 3 has helped transform that vision into reality, creating spaces where students can thrive. Building on the School’s 2017 masterplan, the redevelopment has brought together contemporary design, heritage preservation, and functional innovation to enhance the learning experience of 1,000 students.

Delivering this project within a live school environment required careful planning and innovative construction solutions. Safety of students and staff was paramount, with temporary facilities, dedicated access points, and staged construction ensuring minimal disruption. Heritage elements, including the convict-era boundary retaining wall, were meticulously preserved through non-destructive construction methods and detailed monitoring. Infrastructure upgrades, such as the stormwater system were coordinated with authorities, residents and public transport to protect the wider community.

Sustainability was a key consideration in the design and build, from natural ventilation and energy-efficient systems to a green wall providing temperature regulation and sound dampening. Thoughtful design and construction techniques, including post-tensioned slabs and staged crane lifts, maximised space and accelerated delivery despite pandemic related challenges.
