The award-winning St Luke’s Catholic College’s expansion was delivered to support the school’s growing K–12 community, increasing capacity from 1,600 to 2,000 students and providing new innovative learning spaces alongside enhanced sporting facilities.

The project was delivered in a live school environment, including an operating day care, requiring careful planning to ensure safety, access, and minimal disruption. Construction activities, vehicle movements, and deliveries were strategically scheduled to protect the learning environment and maintain uninterrupted education for all students.

The program was further challenged by 109 days of record-breaking wet weather. Through proactive problem-solving, clear communication, and close collaboration with the school leadership, works remained on track and strong Client relationships were maintained throughout delivery.

Stage 5 works delivered Block A, incorporating food technology and preparation rooms, a canteen, café, rooftop greenhouse, amenities, and a plant room. Block L introduced new laboratories, technology rooms, art studios, workrooms, and collaborative learning areas.

Stage 6 focused on Block I, which included a state-of-the-art performance hall, ensemble room, indoor courts, and sport and workrooms, supported by civil works for a purpose-built playing field.

By successfully navigating the complexities of a live campus and 109 days of extreme weather, the expansion was delivered on time and to the highest standard. The project has since been recognised as a benchmark in educational construction.

St Luke’s Catholic College contracted Grindley for two buildings of a 5 building long term building project. This included our specialist spaces for food, technology, art, design, music and dance and our performance hall as well as general classrooms. They had a high level of clear communication, were responsive to needs that we had that were beyond the scope of their project (for example, setting up tables for our HSC exams) and provided an exceptional quality build.
