Nowell B Taylor House was developed by The Y to provide safe, affordable housing for community members eligible under the Department of Communities criteria. Their mission is rooted in dignity, inclusion, and opportunity.

Constructed within an urban setting, the project required careful coordination to manage public interface works and ensure safety across all trades. The site’s integration into the existing streetscape demanded staged delivery and close collaboration to mitigate disruption, particularly during façade installation and basement excavation. Works were completed on schedule and within budget.

The building presents a contemporary, brand‑aligned aesthetic featuring red cladding panels, grey concrete elements, and black‑tinted glazing to enhance privacy and energy performance. Recessed balconies with black railings provide outdoor amenity without compromising views, while the ventilated rainscreen façade system improves durability and thermal efficiency. The design balances visual impact with long‑term functionality for residents.
