Murray Gardens forms part of Parramatta Park and Western Sydney Parks Trust’s ongoing investment in high‑quality public facilities that enhance the visitor experience across the Parklands. Designed to support a wide range of park users, the new amenities provide safe, accessible and durable facilities that meet growing community needs and contribute to the long‑term renewal of this important public landscape.

Construction took place in a highly sensitive heritage area, requiring strict compliance with the Park’s Aboriginal Heritage and “no‑dig” policy. As the site had no existing services, all new connections were brought in from the neighbouring RSL property and coordinated around their own construction works. Careful staging, clear communication and close coordination with the Trust, nearby landowners and service authorities helped maintain safety, manage risks and minimise disruption to the park.

Designed by CHROFI, the new amenities feature simple, thoughtful details that help it blend naturally into the landscape. Dark painted steel sits comfortably among the surrounding trees, while recycled Blackbutt cladding will weather over time to a soft grey. A translucent fibreglass roof and perforated soffit bring in gentle natural light, and wide roof overhangs provide shade and shelter. Open timber battens allow for natural ventilation while still supporting privacy, visibility and vandal resistance.

Full project scope included a waffle pod slab on ground, construction of the steel structure, featuring a timber façade, vandal‑resistant fitout and new landscaping to integrate the buildings into the surrounding park environment. The completed amenities deliver long‑term community benefit through durable materials, thoughtful design and infrastructure that will serve Parramatta Park for decades to come.
