The renewed building uses warm, durable materials that connect it to the surrounding landscape. A large veranda on the south‑west side provides shelter from sun and weather while creating a calm, elevated space with communal concrete wash troughs and views towards Tamarama. The exterior is wrapped in recycled hardwood posts salvaged from Council’s former works depot, giving the building a unified, textured skin that will naturally weather to match the tones of the nearby banksia scrub and sandstone.

The completed works deliver a renewed community asset that feels both grounded in its environment and worthy of its extraordinary location. By recycling the existing structure and integrating sustainable, long‑lasting materials, the project transforms a once‑utilitarian block into a refined coastal pavilion that enriches the experience of everyone who walks the iconic coastal track.
