The upgrade of Manly Village Public School delivers meaningful improvements for the students, families and staff who use the campus every day. Safer access, new learning spaces and upgraded administration areas create a more welcoming and functional environment for the whole community. For a school that has been part of Manly’s history since 1858, the project ensures the campus continues to serve local families with the same sense of care, connection and inclusivity that has defined it for generations.

Constructing within a live school environment in the heart of Manly adjacent to shops, restaurants and pedestrian pathways, required careful staging, clear communication and strict safety controls. The project was sequenced into three stages under a Review of Environmental Factors pathway to minimise disruption and maintain safe access for students and staff. Decanting of the OOSHC (Out of School Hours Care) services, heritage remediation and the installation of a new lift and ramps were planned in detail to manage risk. Daily coordination with the school kept movement zones clear, controlled noise and ensured the site remained calm and predictable throughout construction.

The upgrade introduced fit‑for‑purpose learning environments, including 6 new learning spaces, a dedicated special programs space, breakout rooms and improved storage. Accessibility has been significantly enhanced through a new lift, compliant ramps and upgraded circulation paths. Heritage elements were carefully protected, with façade remediation, repointing, heritage‑compliant windows and new timber flooring installed to match the original character of the building. A new link bridge between Buildings C and D improves connectivity and flow.
