The E3B Building, also known as the International Building, is a vibrant learning hub at the heart of Macquarie University’s Campus, supporting students as they connect, collaborate and grow. Designed to meet the evolving needs of modern education, the building provides welcoming, flexible environments that encourage interaction beyond the classroom and support a strong sense of belonging within the campus community.
Delivered within an active university precinct, the project required careful planning to manage safety, access and ongoing campus operations. Construction activities were coordinated to minimise disruption to students and staff, with a strong focus on maintaining safe pedestrian movement and continuity of learning within a highly connected and accessible part of the campus.
Architecturally, the building balances contemporary design while respecting the existing heritage around the campus. The façade features extensive glazing, grey and yellow cladding and traditional brickwork, creating a modern yet timeless appearance.
The metal sunshade panels integrated into the brickwork, helps control temperatures within classrooms and computer science facilities, which also aligns with the advanced, technology-focused learning spaces housed within the building.
