Macquarie Lodge Retirement Village offers a new chapter in connected, maintenance-free living for older Australians. Set in the suburb of Arncliffe, the village provides residents with comfort, convenience, and independence, all within a supportive, welcoming community. Located alongside existing aged care and community facilities, it allows residents to enjoy a seamless transition between living options as their needs evolve.
Delivered under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) methodology, the project benefited from the team’s detailed knowledge of the site and its existing infrastructure, having previously delivered the existing 90-bed aged care home on the same site. This long-term partnership with The Salvation Army enabled informed planning, effective collaboration, and a streamlined delivery process across all project stages.
Working within a live environment adjacent to dementia and residential care facilities required careful sequencing, noise and access management, and heightened sensitivity to resident wellbeing. Our team maintained open communication and strict controls around vehicle movement and site safety to ensure minimal disruption throughout construction.
The development features open-plan living spaces with modern kitchens, generous balconies, and leafy landscaped surrounds. Secure basement parking, ample storage, and elevator access to all levels enhance everyday convenience. Designed for flexibility and low maintenance, the apartments are ideal for residents seeking to downsize while remaining connected to family, friends, and care services within a familiar environment.
The project scope included the demolition of an existing structure, excavation into sandstone for a 54-space basement carpark, and construction of 2 apartment block buildings, comprising basement, ground, first and second floors, plus rooftop plant decks. External works included new landscaping, ramps, pathways, and fencing to create a safe and accessible environment that encourages community interaction.
