Farrer Brown Court was refurbished to provide residents with a contemporary, comfortable living environment that enhances dignity, independence and quality of life. Delivered for Anglicare in Castle Hill, the project revitalised a 49-year-old aged care home, transforming resident accommodation and communal spaces to meet modern expectations while allowing residents to remain connected to their home, community and daily routines throughout the upgrade process.

Undertaking extensive refurbishment works within a fully occupied aged care home presented significant planning and operational challenges. The project involved converting shared bathroom arrangements into individual ensuites while maintaining close to 90% occupancy and minimising disruption to residents, families and staff. Careful staging, proactive stakeholder engagement and close collaboration with the Client ensured continuity of care was maintained throughout construction.

Innovation was central to the delivery strategy. To minimise disruption and improve construction efficiency, 62 bespoke bathroom pods were manufactured offsite and installed onto the existing building using a modular approach. The delivery of a prototype early in the project enabled Anglicare’s operations team and residents to provide valuable feedback on functionality, finishes and layout before full production commenced. This approach improved quality control, reduced on-site trades and accelerated delivery while ensuring compliance with Australian standards.
