For two decades, we have partnered with The Salvation Army to deliver homes that place people and community at the centre of every decision. Elizabeth Jenkins Place Aged Care Centre continues this commitment, providing older Australians in Collaroy with a welcoming environment that combines personalised care, household-style living and meaningful social connection. Inspired by the relaxed character of Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the home supports residents to maintain their independence, wellbeing and quality of life in a setting that feels familiar and comfortable.
The delivery of the project required careful planning and coordination to meet the complex requirements of a modern aged care environment while maintaining the welcoming residential character envisioned by The Salvation Army. A strong focus on quality, safety and stakeholder collaboration ensured the successful integration of specialised care equipment, accessibility requirements and residential living spaces. Through close engagement with the Client and consultant team, the project was delivered to a high standard, creating a safe and functional environment for residents, visitors and staff.
Central to the design is a household model of care that encourages familiarity, independence and a strong sense of belonging. The centre comprises 7 interconnected households, each featuring its own kitchen, dining and living spaces to create smaller communities within the broader home. An internal streetscape links these households and incorporates amenities including a café, hairdressing salon, beauty services and chapel. Large windows, abundant natural light, beach-inspired interiors and landscaped outdoor areas further enhance the welcoming atmosphere.
The development provides permanent residential accommodation, including specialist dementia, respite and palliative care services. Spacious resident rooms with private ensuites are complemented by generous communal spaces, landscaped gardens and outdoor areas designed to support recreation, relaxation and visits with family and friends. More than an aged care home, Elizabeth Jenkins Place creates a genuine sense of home while strengthening care services across the Northern Beaches. The project reflects a shared commitment to delivering compassionate, person-centred environments where residents can maintain their individuality, build meaningful relationships and continue enjoying fulfilling daily lives.
