Nestled in heritage-rich Maitland, Benhome Masonic Village provides secure, compassionate residential care for older people needing increased daily support. This project enhances a long-standing community service, creating modern, comfortable spaces that honour the village’s history while supporting residents to live with dignity and connection.

Designed to sit comfortably within its historic surroundings, the new 2 storey building was carefully detailed to complement the existing village fabric. The entrance adopts a warm, neutral palette of sandstone, brick and timber-look soffits, paired with crisp white window and door frames that echo the historic architecture adjacent. New landscaping and improved external connections help connect the old and new together, creating a cohesive arrival experience and a consistent village identity.

Delivered within a live village environment, the works required demolishing the existing facility and tying the new extension into four separate buildings. With residents remaining onsite, careful planning, sequencing and communication were critical. Grindley worked closely with the Client and care staff to manage noise, access and safety, ensuring uninterrupted operations and smooth resident transitions.
