The award-winning project at Ascham School reflects the school’s commitment to learning, growing, and community. Ascham, a leading independent girls’ school, is where academic excellence meets personal development, nurturing confidence, resilience, and participation. The recent construction and refurbishment work enhances the campus with new learning and boarding spaces, while respecting its heritage character, supporting girls to thrive academically and personally.

Works were carried out in the middle of a live environment, surrounded by teaching spaces, sporting fields, and boarding accommodation. This presented key challenges, requiring careful planning to manage noise, dust, and access to ensure no disruption to lessons, activities, or student wellbeing.

The project scope included a new Science Building with 9 state-of-the-art laboratories, a lecture theatre, teacher rooms, bathrooms, and a basement, designed to support collaborative and independent learning. For the new façade, colour was central to the architectural expression, with ‘Satin Oriental Gold’ making a striking statement. High-quality louvre blades provide long-lasting sun protection, create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, and support flexible learning. External works included a tiered northern courtyard with timber decking, landscaping, and upgraded ramps, stairs, and pathways.
