The refurbishment of Alton Lodge was undertaken to improve comfort, safety and independence for residents while supporting Adventist Senior Living’s commitment to high‑quality, person‑centred care. The project ensured the 42‑room home continues to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for residents, families and staff.

Initially engaged under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) arrangement, the team worked with the Client’s design consultants to develop the scope from 30% documentation and align the project with the available budget. Careful staging was essential, with the aged care home remaining fully operational throughout. Clear exclusion zones, solid hoardings, and close communication with nursing and operational staff ensured resident safety and continuity of care.

The project required a coordinated fire safety upgrade, including a review of building compliance and the development of an efficient solution with the design team. Works proceeded under two planning pathways, with internal works delivered under a Complying Development Certificate (CDC) and external works scheduled later to accommodate the Development Application and Rural Fire Service review process.
