TKD Architects worked with Grindley on the substantial refurbishment and fitout of the heritage listed Mount St Benedict Centre, to create new contemporary learning spaces, staff administration offices and a new school entry and reception. Grindley worked well with TKD Architects in a cooperative and professional manner. They successfully coordinated all requirements of the construction process and the level of finish and attention to detail was of a high standard.

Grindley demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism, technical capability, and project leadership in the delivery of the Hughes Centre. Their performance throughout the lifecycle of the project was consistently of a very high standard, reflecting both strong organisational systems and a proactive, solutions-focused team culture.One of Grindley’s standout strengths was their commitment to quality. The Hughes Centre was delivered to an exceptional standard, with attention to detail evident across all aspects of the build. In summary, Grindley’s delivery of the Hughes Centre can be regarded as outstanding.

Grindley’s performance during the works was ultimately proactive, well communicated and collaborative. Given the nature of the work requiring the fitout and modification of existing heritage buildings, Grindley’s thorough and flexible approach led to better project outcomes. Particular reference is made to the creation of large structural openings to Building A that were ultimately constructed, maximising the opening size whilst optimising the amount of required structural steel. Grindley’s ability to work within live environments is also to be commended. During the project program the school was required to decant in and out of 5 of the 7 existing buildings on site. Grindley was accommodating in assisting with these decants and coordinating works to suit. Additionally, all works were completed with minimal disruption to the operations of the school. Particularly disruptive works such as demolition works were coordinated around key school events (such as NAPLAN testing).

Grindley was contracted for two buildings of a five-building long term project, including our specialist spaces for food, technology, art, design, music, dance, a performance hall and general classrooms. Grindley was far and above the best building company we dealt with over the time. They had a high level of clear communication, were responsive to our needs that were beyond their project scope and provided an exceptional quality build. Every time that we interacted with Grindley, they were polite, professional, responsive and helpful. As Principal, having Grindley run this project meant that it was a lot less stressful than any other project we have had. I would not hesitate to engage them for future building projects.

This project included the refurbishment of the existing ground floor office with revised layout and minor façade extension. The project was quite difficult as it required substantial work in a confined and poorly accessible site. The school staff are exceptionally happy with the quality of finish. It has given the school a massive upgrade in facilities and functionality. We thank the Grindley team for their great coordination, management and excellent communication with the Client and all stakeholders.
