Careers Beyond the Build

Construction is more than just trades on site; every project is supported by a wide network of professionals who bring it to life. At Grindley, we offer a range of non-trade roles, such as Design Management, Estimating, Finance, Marketing, Bid Coordination, Business Development and many more. These roles play an essential part in shaping outcomes from early planning through to project completion. With mentorship, development opportunities and a collaborative culture, our team enjoy stable, meaningful career pathways while contributing to the success of every build.

Cadetship and Apprenticeship

Our Cadetship and Apprenticeship programs are designed to support the next generation of construction professionals, combining structured learning with practical, hands-on experience. Cadets and Apprentices work part-time while completing their university or TAFE studies, gaining exposure across a range of departments and projects within a collaborative, supportive environment. These programs are a long-term investment, helping individuals develop the skills, confidence and professional networks needed to thrive in the construction industry.

From the outset, each Cadet and Apprentice is paired with an independent mentor who provides guidance tailored to their development. Cadet mentors focus on areas such as project administration, contract management, subcontractor coordination and Client engagement. While Apprentice mentors provide practical guidance on site safety, sequencing of trade works, programming and quality control. This mentoring ensures every participant receives the support needed to grow into future leaders and trusted professionals.

Through structured rotations, Cadets gain experience across estimating, contracts, work health and safety, quality assurance and site administration, while Apprentices rotate through core construction phases, from project commencement to completion and defects management. Many of our Cadets have progressed to senior positions within the business.
