Opening of 'The Cairns Residential Care Centre' Moggill Road, Chapel Hill, Queensland
The Official Opening of The Cairns Residential Care Centre was held on Thursday 9th December 2010.
The Cairns Centre is a new 120 Bed Residential Aged Care Facility, over four levels, which will operate a range of aged care services including high care (nursing) & low care (hostel).
The new building was officially opened by Commissioner Barry Swanson (Chief of Staff) who came out from England for the occasion. Grindley received special recognition from the Army at the opening for the professional and no fuss manner in which the project was delivered.

MBA - State Award Winner
Patrick AutoStrad Terminal, constructed by Grindley on behalf of Patrick Corporation, took out its very first MBA State Award in Queensland. The $30 million automated port container facility at the Port of Brisbane won in the category of 'Industrial Buildings Over $15 million.' This is a big achievement for Grindley among tough competition in Queensland.

MBA - 2010 Apprentice of the Year
Grindley's 4th Year Apprentice Mitchell Roberts won the 2010 NSW MBA Apprentice of the Year award earlier this month.
Currently, Grindley have 18 apprentice carpenters split between NSW and QLD. Mitchell has always stood out for his ability, personality and approach.
Mitchell is a determined and enthusiastic person who takes on all tasks with strong commitment and willingness. He always shows a high standard of workplace ethics and quality workmanship, along with strong technical skills and capabilities.
His personable approach continues to allow the success of any assignment in which he is involved. Mitchell is a valued employee of our company and is well deserving of this honorable award.

ACSA Conference - Hobart, Tasmania
Grindley joins the leading lights of aged care as a major sponsor of the Aged & Community Services Australia (ACSA) conference which was held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart from Sunday 19th - Wednesday 22nd September.
ACSA represents charitable and community-based organisations who provide housing, supported accommodation, residential and retirement villages and community care services to over 700,000 people across Australia.
This year's theme for the conference was "Explore the Possibilities" in which a number of issues were discussed, including Sustainability, Food, Marketing, Workforce, Information Technology, Travel & Community.
The event brings together over 1,000 aged and community leaders and decision makers, sponsors and delegates.

MBA - Regional Award Winner
Grindley scooped up another MBA Excellence in Construction Award on Friday 9th July, when attending the Brisbane Region awards night, at the Sofitel Hotel. Grindley's Patrick AutoStrad Terminal took the award for 'Industrial Buildings over $15 million.'
The $30 million automated port container facility at the Port of Brisbane is the first fully automated, driverless marine container facility in the world.

HammondCare's 8th Biennial International Conference on Dementia
Grindley joins the team of aged care providers once again as an exhibitor at the HammondCare Conference, held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour from Tuesday 16th - Wednesday 17th of June.
This conference is devoted to understanding, managing and treating dementia. It posed the question 'Is there a different way, a better way, a new way, to approach dementia.' From the design of facilities, to the rights of the individuals, across indigenous issues, palliative care, the needs of the carers, the role of technology and the fundamental rethinking of our approach and thinking.
Many Australian and international speakers are involved, which promotes the greater flow of information and views on dementia from Australia to the international community, and from the international community to Australia.

We are very happy to announce that as of 1st January 2010 John Fitzpatrick has been appointed to the Grindley Construction Pty Ltd Board of Directors as the Director responsible for our very successful operations in Queensland. John's building career spans over 20 years of which nine years have been in the employ of Grindley. John is passionate about Grindley and in achieving the best possible project outcomes for our clients, and we are delighted to have him as a highly valued part of the Grindley management team.
